Candle Care
Candles & Creations - Candle ...

Basic Candle Care

  • Always burn candles where you can see them.
  • Make sure that the surface of your table, desk, mantle, etc. is stable, level, and even and that the candle flame isn't near flammable materials like curtains or magazines.
  • Candles burn best away from drafts. If the flame is flickering very quickly, extinguish it, then move the candle to a location free of drafts.
  • If ever you see carbon build-up on a wick, extinguish the wick, wait until the wick has cooled, snip off the tip and then re-light. (Be careful to keep any debris out of the melted wax.)
  • Use a snuffer to extinguish candle flames. This will prevent wax from spattering, and also keep the candle wick centered.
  • To prevent color fading, keep candles out of direct sunlight.
  • Never burn the last 1/4 inch of any candle

Votives Candle Care

  • Always burn votives in a container designed for votive use to maximize candle consumption and safety.
  • Remove the metal sustainer before adding another votive.
  • Be sure that wicks are centered. An uncentered wick could crack a glass container.
  • Trim wicks to 1/4 inch.

Tealights Candle Care

  • Always burn tealights in an accessory designed for tealight use to maximize candle consumption and safety.
  • Replace with a new tealight when the wax is consumed.

Wax-filled Containers

  • Trim wicks to 1/4 inch.
  • Burn long enough each time for the wax to liquefy to the edges of the container.
  • Use a snuffer, not the container lid, to snuff the flame.
  • Keep wicks positioned at the center of the candle.
